They are in no particular order, but here are some of my moments of awe
When I saw the Grand Canyon for the first time
-I was 13 and it was the most surreal experience ever. Seeing something so big, bigger then myself and anything I've known
When I heard my brother break the RBI and hit record for the Kenyon Lords baseball team his senior year of college
-I was listening online and hearing the announcers yell when he broke the record made me so proud
When I saw the movie The Fault in out Stars for the first time
-I had been wanting to read the book for a long time, and after finally reading it, I couldn't believe they were making a movie
out of it. And seeing it in theaters the first time with my mom was such a magical moment
When I saw Michael Franti and Spearhead live at Red Rocks
-Not only was it my first concert, but it was two days before my birthday, at Red Rocks. Needless to say it was perfect
When I flew over the Grand Canyon at Sunset
- Last May I was flying from Phoenix to Salt Lake City at dusk, and we flew right over the Grand Canyon at sunset. One of the prettiest things ever
When I saw Pentatonix live in concert
0-ast February I was able to see Pentatonix live in concert with my roommate and it was a magical experience. They are such amazing acapella artists and it was such a perfect night
When my cross country team almost swept league
-My senior year of high school my cross country team almost swept league. We won first place for boys varsity, boys JV, boys open, girls varsity, girls JV, and placed 2nd for girls open. It was such a wonderful moment to be there as they announced it, and the entire team screamed and jumped up and down. This was the first time we had won with that many of our teams.
When I saw the musical Wicked live
-I had waited to see this musical for a long time, and when I got to see it, I was so excited! It was everything I had hoped it would be and more!
When I heard my brother's first EP for the first time
-My brother has been actively trying to become a full time musician for the last couple months, and he released his first EP a few weeks ago. He sent me a signed copy in the mail, and the first time I listened to it, it was pure magic. Hearing my own brother, the one who I grew up with, singing songs that he has written from his heart. It gave me goosebumps.
When I PR'd at Liberty Bell
-In cross country, there was this course called Liberty bell that was the favorite course all season. The reason being, majority of the course took place on pavement, which is the fastest surface to run on. So every time you ran that race, which was half way through the season, you were almost guaranteed a personal record (PR). I got to run this course 4 times, and each time I did PR. But my senior year, was the best, because I had the biggest PR ever that shattered what I had ran it in my freshman year, sophomore year and junior year.
When I said goodbye to my families tree farm
-Summer of 2013 I went back to Wisconsin to help my family clear out the house at the 80 acre tree farm in Wisconsin and get it ready to sell. This has been coming for a few years, and I tried to prepare myself for what it would be like. But nothing could. The tree farm has been a place that I spent a lot of summers with my family, and I have great memories there. And so it is a hard place to say goodbye to. But I am so grateful that I got to go and see it once last time and get some pictures that I can keep with me for eternity.
