Today as I was driving to the grocery store I found myself at a stop light, and as I looked down at the passenger seat to grab my water bottle I rear ended the car in front of me. I started shaking and immediately couldn't believe what had just happened. The car in front of me turned and pulled into a nearby parking lot and I followed him. I apologized immensly and luckily his car has very little damage other then a small scratch and an imprint of my liscence plate and mine has only a small scrape. And neither one of us were injured. So for that I am extremely grateful. But I am still upset about the whole thing because it is the first accident I have been in since having my drivers liscense.(That's almost 6 years) But coming back home I was thinking about it and I realized that it's okay. Now when I say okay, I am not saying that it is a good thing I rear ended him. But what I am saying, is that things happen and that's okay. It's not the end of the world. Now if his car had been really badly damaged or one of us had been seriously injured it would be different. But we weren't, and so it isn't something to keep thinking about. I apologized several times to him and he said "Don't worry about. I've had plenty of accidents myself." And that is the bottom line. We are all human, we all make mistakes, and things happen sometimes, in our control and out of our control, and we have to go with them. It doesn't help anything to keep dwelling on it. We have to look at the situation, pull what we can from it to learn for next time, and then move on.
