Today I found myself seated in Applebees with my dad eating food and watching the World Cup US vs. Belgium game. I was cheering and yelling hoping that the US would score a goal. Why? Because I am American, I live in the US, and they are the team that is representing my country. So why not? Now I don't watch soccer on a regular basis, or really follow anything that is happening in the soccer world, but since the World Cup started, I have been following it, and today, I took extra pride in cheering for the US. Some people may call it jumping on the a bandwagon, but I say it is rooting and supporting your fellow Americans. Every four years soccer teams from all over the world come together to play and share their love of the game. It is a time, like the Olympics, that reminds us, that we are not the only people in the world. The world is full of millions of other people whom we don't interact with every day, and yet for a few weeks every four years, we do. So why not jump in and celebrate and root for your favorite team!
